Orange (Latin name: Citrus sinensis (L.) Osbeck cv. Liu Cheng) is the fruit of the evergreen small tree known as sweet orange. Also called navel orange, sweet orange, or simply orange. It is a member of the Rutaceae family and Citrus genus, originally from the Guangdong province of China and now widely cultivated in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Taiwan, and other provinces like Sichuan, Chongqing, and Zhejiang. Oranges can be categorized into varieties such as ordinary oranges, navel oranges, snow oranges, and acidless oranges. The fruit contains proteins, fats, carbohydrates, dietary fiber, ash, vitamins A, B1, C, organic acids, carotenoids, niacin, ascorbic acid, calcium, phosphorus, iron, and other compounds. It can be eaten fresh, added to salads, used in drinks, or as a garnish. Orange juice can be consumed directly or used in sauces and pastes. The peel can be ground for baking or used whole as a salad or dessert shell, or sliced and candied.
