Plant Source – Loquat

The loquat (also known as Loquat Juice Powder) is also called "Japanese medlar" and "Chinese plum." It belongs to the rose family and originates from southeastern China. Named for its leaf shape resembling a pipa (a traditional Chinese string instrument), the flower can be used medicinally. Ripe loquats are sweet and nutritious, containing various fruit sugars, glucose, potassium, phosphorus, iron, calcium, and vitamins A, B, and C. The carotenoid content is among the highest in fruits. Traditional Chinese medicine considers loquat fruit beneficial for moistening the lungs, stopping coughs, and quenching thirst. The skin should be peeled before eating. Loquat flesh is also used in canned syrup or wine. All parts of the loquat, including the leaves, fruit, and seeds, contain amygdalin.
