Plant Source—Blueberry
Blueberries belong to the Ericaceae family and the Vaccinium genus. They are commonly known as huckleberries, bilberries, or Vaccinium berries. Blueberries are typically classified into four varieties based on their plant characteristics, ecological traits, and fruit features: lowbush, half-highbush, highbush (southern highbush and northern highbush), and rabbiteye. As an emerging berry with high economic value and broad development prospects, blueberries have tender flesh, tiny seeds, a sweet-tart taste, and a refreshing aroma. They are rich in vitamins and trace elements. Fresh blueberries can be eaten raw or used to make juice, wine, jam, and other products, adding to their economic value. Ranked first among the top 15 healthy foods globally by leading nutritionists and recognized by the FAO as one of the top five health foods, blueberries are often referred to as the "king of berries."
